　　1909年，德國科學家泰歐道爾馬帝斯在亞馬遜叢林中罹患了怪病，他向碩果僅存的原住民巫醫卡拉馬卡德求助，他們順著蜿蜒的河流搜尋能治病的神秘植物以及失散的族裔，同時見證了殖民行為刻劃於土地的痕跡。相隔四十年後，一位美國植物學家同樣踏入亞馬遜叢林，請求年邁的巫醫再次帶領他找到德國科學家記載的那神秘植物，隨著兩人深入雨林，黑暗中過往的災難傷痕逐漸甦醒。
