  • 生於德克薩斯，父親是具有瑞士血統的德國人，母親則是挪威人。1987年畢業於休斯頓的中學，之後進入德克薩斯大學取得廣電學士學位。1991年大學畢業後曾參演過兩部電視劇，1993年踏入電影圈，後以獨立製片【殺戮邊緣】獲影評人青睞。1996年，以與湯姆克魯斯主演的【征服情海】嶄露頭角。曾與金凱瑞合作主演了喜劇片【一個頭兩個大】。2001年因主演了【BJ單身日記】而大為走紅，也曾經以【冷山】奪得奧斯卡最佳女配角，至今仍然是好萊塢相當熱門的女星之一。

簡介

歐德曼生長在藍領家庭，曾經被學校退學，而後進入演藝學校就讀。1981年他開始參加電影劇及舞臺劇表演，並於1986年獲頒最佳演員及新人獎。隔年在電影處女作【席德與南茜】中飾演嗑藥的搖滾龐克青年，又奪一座最佳新人獎，而他也是少數能夠表現美式腔調的英國演員。拍完【吸血鬼】後，蓋瑞並擔任坎城影展評審，在影壇地位已受肯定。曾經與女星烏瑪舒曼有短暫的婚姻關係。2001年他演出了【人魔】，也接演了賣座大片諸如【哈利波特】與【黑暗騎士】系列電影等，戲路亦正亦邪，常是各大電影中不可或缺的角色。
